Third level is conscious competency, so you know you’ve learnt something and you’re aware of doing it. Then you have the unconscious competency – which is mastery. When you’re doing it so intuitively you don’t even think about it. So what’s the next stage after? When you want to make something so epic, so next level it takes the world by storm. But to do that? You have to forget everything you’ve learnt before.

Instrument designer Peter Blasser, of Ciat-Lonbarde and Shbobo came to England in March 2013. He delivered a workshop at the University of Huddersfield on his latest instrument, the Shnth, along with it’s programming language, SHLISP. The Shnth is an embedded, ARM-based, digital synth, with built-in analog control.

This is the video documentation of D3D4LU5 - a realtime generative software containing two aesthetic and semantic dimensions that subtly interact. In the first, algorithms based on intelligent agents weave diaphanous structures, simultaneously outlining a soundscape characterized by an extremely slow but vibrant polyphonic rhythm, while against the background of this dense, almost particulate action, the artist has attempted to project the legend of Daedalus, in filigree, as it were. The second generative element has as its starting point an adapted version of a phrase pronounced by James Joyce’s character Stephen Dedalus: “A software makes no mistakes. Its errors are volitional and are the portals of discovery.” The quote has been changed to make software its subject, then, powered by a lexical database and innervated by computational models, it generates endless variations on the theme.

We’re on the hunt for a UX/UI Creative Director.

We’re looking for an experienced gang member to join us and be the creative leader on one of our biggest clients.

This is a senior and client facing position but as with everyone at our studio, you will be a hands on designer who will lead from the front (tired war metaphor detected).

We are looking for someone with top craft skills and a great strategic mind. The work for this client is Service Design at it’s best and we’re running it with Agile. So, Agile experience is a necessity.

You’ll lead a multitude of work streams with a team of about 12 UX and UI designers and you’ll be responsible for inspiring them and rallying them behind a design vision you’ll have crafted with them and the client.

As to us, we are building something we are truly proud of. We are a gang and we all look after each other and miss each other when one of us go on holidays. : ) Our culture is open and we pride ourselves on always tackling our missions as a group.

We know what is going on with each other’s lives outside of work and many of us have become the best of friends. We have a lot of very passionate people here but our love of each other and the sense that we share goals and values always comes before our egos.

We are a young company in London and we have been doing some work we are really proud of in the past year. 2017 is a new chapter of this journey and this role is going to have a big impact in our culture and our story this year.

Also, before I forget. This role is going to require somewhat frequent travelling.
